Bauhaus principles that designers should never forget, simple principles of the Bauhaus Core design way of thinking.
The Bauhaus was one of the great schools of design, for some the best, laying the foundations of what is now included within industrial and graphic design. Designlab published an article containing 5 basic principles that are still valid for today's designers, including those who design user experiences.
RECOVERING SIMPLICITY
In contrast to previous movements, La Bauhaus strived to regain the simplicity and harmony of design. The historical context in which the Bauhaus emerged is framed within an era of rapid and continuous transformation, similar to the one we live today, showing an interest in aesthetics in all areas that make up everyday life.
FUNCTIONALLITY FIRST
Some lovers of design understand that this must be the facet that prevails when creating a product. In the Bauhaus it is the other way around, first a product is created that has to fulfill a certain function and then it is the design that adapts. According to the philosophy of the School, art, design and technology had to respond in a functional way to the needs of society, that's why its students worked on all kinds of objects, from chairs, to beds or newspaper displays.
Daring to break the rules

In design, as in other fields, we sometimes tend to follow traditions and copy from others what has worked for them. However, innovating and doing something different is in many cases the key to success. The Bauhaus proposal was to apply the technique of trial and error, experiment with different design solutions and, if it is considered correct, bet on the most radical of all.
THINK BIG, THINK DIFERENT : STEVE JOBS UNDERSTOOD THIS CONCEPT!
Even in those cases where the order made to the designers is for small businesses or objects, the advice of this School is to always think big, even if we are just doing a logo design for a hot dog stand of a friend. Everyday can be as big a design opportunity as a palace.
DO NOT BE AFRAID TO EXPERIMENT AND GET DIRTY

The Bauhaus School wanted to contemplate the integral artist with his craft, and encouraged students to immerse themselves in the full range of materials and techniques available at that time. In his opinion, the best way to design something is to know the product in depth, from the materials used, to the textures, to the gears... Thus, he recommended: "the next time you need to print some business cards, before going to an online printing service, why not buy a silkscreen kit for the home and do the work yourself? The school's view is that we should all go back to craftsmanship to learn by doing.
