A new model of approach to Basic Education in Chile.
An analysis of the demands for accessibility support in electronic learning systems in the context of Education.

The reasons and purposes for undertaking this project. This program of study continues personal research and requires a collaborative effort between the departments of cognitive science, computer science, informatics, social sciences of communication, linguistics, design, psychology, sociology and media sciences and practice in particular within the area of accessibility of end-user systems.

Within Primary Education, there is evidence of constant innovation and changing approaches to online service provision; however, the issue of user accessibility, broad in scope and long term, has clearly become a secondary consideration. My research should serve as a basis for improving the provision of accessible systems for learners through any procedure.






A brief analysis of Kindergarten and Primary Education in Chile.

The Ministry of Education administers the K-12 education system in Chile. K-12 education in Chile begins with preschool, followed by primary and secondary education which is compulsory.
Understanding the K-12 education system in Chile
Preschool Education (kindergarten)
Preschool education in Chile is optional and is offered by kindergartens or daycare centers. Preschools in El Niño create a social environment and focus on developing the basic skills required for primary schools. Preschools in Chile are divided into 2 levels:
Sala cuna: It is for children from 85 days to 2 years of age.
Middle level: It is for young children, i.e., children from 2 to 4 years of age.
Transition level (Transición): It is for children from 4 to 6 years old.
Primary education/ Basic education (Educacion basic)
Primary education in Chile is compulsory and is divided into two cycles of 4 years each. There are public and private primary schools in Chile. Public schools are administered by the local municipality and private schools are funded by the government.
Duration: 8 years
Ages: 6 to 13 years
Grades: 1 to 8
Primary education is divided into 2 cycles/levels (basic novels):
Cycle 1 (First cycle/Cycle I), covers grades 1 to 4.
Cycle 2 (Second cycle/Cycle II), covers grades 5 to 8.
Curriculum:
Compulsory subjects: mathematics, language and communication, natural sciences, art education, history, technology, foreign language (compulsory in the second cycle), physical education, indigenous language, and geography and social sciences.
Electives: Orientation and religious studies.
Certificate awarded: Basic Education License promoted to Secondary Education.
